August 6, 2016

Dear Parents and Guardian,

We would like to welcome you to the 3rd Grade.  We are looking forward to working with you to make this a successful and productive year for your child.

Students will be rotating between four teachers this year.  This is a big change for them, since this is the first time doing this.  Each teacher will have different assignments and responsibilities, so it is very important for the student to stay organized and become responsible.  You can help them do this by encouraging organization and good study habits at home.  Students need to make sure to keep notebooks neat and orderly so they can stay organized in each class.

Our students will have homework every night.  Each student is responsible for getting his/her homework assignment written down and together every afternoon in order to take it home.  Teachers do not write the homework assignments down for them.  The homework assignments will be posted on the board every day.

School begins at 7:50 A.M. and ends at 3:07 P.M.  It is very important that your child is on time and at school every day.  For the safety and well-being of our students, parents are no longer permitted to walk the students to and from class.  This is now a school-wide policy.

If you have any concerns about your child, please let us know.  We are here to help your child in this academic adventure.  Our planning period will be from 10:05-10:50.  Call the school at 663-3700 or email us to make an appointment.  Also, our school website will be a valuable tool for you to use to learn about upcoming events, assignments, rules, and etc. The website is www.scottcounty.net click on the Fairview.

We would also like to express just how excited we are to have your child in the 3rd Grade.  We hope this will be a year of excitement and a positive learning experience for your child.  With your child’s dedication to hard work and your cooperation, this will be a very rewarding learning experience.  Please sign and return this letter.  Once again, welcome back and thank you for your time and dedication.

Sincerely,

Shona Boshears (Reading/Language Arts)
