Dear Parents,

We would like to welcome you and your son/daughter into our classes for this school year. It is our goal to instill a love for learning while providing an equally challenging, yet fun, experience. We have many exciting and unique activities planned for them this year.

Please refer to the supply lists for each class that can be found on the school website. Copies of these lists may also be picked up in the office.

We have high expectations of our students, and we are confident that they will rise to those expectations. We would ask that you speak with your student nightly to see what they are working on. If you should need to speak to us we are available during our planning time from 7:50 until 8:35 a.m. You can also contact us through e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Mrs. Christa’s Homework Policy

Please read the following homework policy. Sign and date at the bottom acknowledging that you have read, and agree to this policy.

Students will have homework two nights a week on Monday and Thursday. Homework should take no more than 15-20 minutes to complete. The skills taught in the reading language arts class are ones that need to be practiced not only for 5th grade reading, but for all subjects as well.

Homework should be seen as practice for the skills needed to succeed in all subjects. Like signing up for a sport, skills, endurance, and determination are needed for the game or race ahead.

My goals for assigning homework are to help each student succeed in all classes and for their future classes to come. All assignments are meaningful and not simply busy work. I will go over directions and an example of the assignment each day, and answer any questions students may have before they leave class. Those students who ride a bus will have 3:05-3:25 to work on homework and can come to my class for additional help.

  1. Homework is the responsibility of the student.
  2. Homework is due the following day that it is assigned.
  3. Homework that is not turned in on the date it is due will receive D Hall.
  4. Missed work should be picked up on the day the student returns to school.
  5. Missed work is due one week from the date the assignment is received.
  6. Papers that are turned in without a name on them will not be graded.
