Dear Parents and Student,

We would like to welcome you and your child to a new and exciting year in our class!  We hope this will be a fun and educational experience for us all.  For the last two years we combined two of the kindergarten classes.  We had fabulous results in doing so.  We had the highest scores in the county on the kindergarten SAT10 test.  This year we are doing the same thing again.  Therefore, your child will be taught by both teachers, Mrs. Hughett and Mrs. Stanley.

Things have changed a lot for Kindergarten.  Kindergarten children come all day, everyday, just like the rest of the children.  Children will be counted absent for any amount of time that they miss from 7:50 A.M. – 3:00 P.M.  Please keep this in mind, and do not pick up your child unless it is absolutely necessary.

We do not have laying down time anymore. Students have state standards that they are required to learn for the first grade that will be tested at the end of the school year.  This test will be used as an assessment of what your child has been taught throughout the school year.

We will furnish most of the supplies that your child will need throughout the school year.  However, the educational funds that are given to teachers do not allow us to purchase certain things.  It would be greatly appreciated if you could send some extra things such as Kleenex, wipes, Clorox wipes, and Ziploc bags (any size works great).

Your child will get a communication folder that will go home with them everyday, and be returned everyday.  Please check it to see what we are working on and for their homework schedule.  You can also send notes and homework back in the folder.  We will have them put the folder in their backpack each day before leaving school.  On certain days you will need to sign stating that your child has completed the assigned homework.

Please make sure you put your child’s name on their stuff because another child may have something just like it. A spare set of clothing is also good to have in their backpack as well.

Students may bring fifty cents for ice cream or they can bring a snack from home.

Our planning time is 9:35 – 10:20 each day, so if you have any concerns, questions, or comments please feel free to call us.  You can also reach us through our e-mail which is This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. We are looking forward to a fabulous school year!
