Dear Parents & Guardians,

Welcome to Kindergarten!  Kindergarten is such a special year, and I look forward to getting to know you and your child!

Each day your child will bring home a H.E.R.O. binder (Helping Everyone Remain Organized). This binder is a form of communication between your child, me, and yourself. The binder will contain a weekly newsletter that will keep you informed for what's to come each week, a behavior calendar that let's you know how your child behaved that day, and many other resources that you can use to practice with your child at home (sight words, color words, number chart, etc.) This binder will also have a paper folder inside; one side will hold completed papers that stay at home, and the other side is where I will look for excuses, homework, and other important papers that you send back to school. This binder goes home each day and comes back to school each morning.

Your child will be receiving a school handbook that has all of the school rules and policies.  Please read over the student handbook with your child.  There are a few pages that need to be signed and returned to school as soon as possible.

Snack is at 2:35 each day. Ice cream is sold daily for .75 cents. If you wish to send a snack form home, that is fine also.

School begins at 7:50 a.m. and ends at 3:05 p.m.  If a student comes in late, a parent must sign them in at the office.  Three unexcused tardies now count as one unexcused absence for court purposes. This school year there is also a new absence policy that is in place. Please be aware of that. Students must also sign out through the office if they leave early as well.  It is very important that your child is on time and at school every day.

My planning period will be from 12:35 – 1:35 daily.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call during my planning or email me.  The school website is also very informational.  You can find upcoming events, classroom websites, rules, procedures and

With your help and your child’s hard work, I know this will be a rewarding school year.  Once again thank you for your time and help.

Mrs. Christa Smith
