Within the next few weeks, I will begin using a program called Remind 101. This program will allow me to send classroom and school reminders to parents and students in the form of a text message.
This service does keep the teachers phone number anonymous; therefore, doesn’t allow responses back to the teacher. This shouldn’t be a problem because I am free at school every morning between 7:50-8:35. Feel free to call during that time if you need anything.
The program doesn’t cost unless texting isn’t included in your cell phone service package.
You do not have to participate in Remind 101. It is not mandatory. If you choose to receive the messages, you can opt out at any time. All you have to do is reply with the word “Stop.”

Welcome to Miss Kayla’s Math Class
We would like to welcome you and your son/daughter into our classes for this school year. It is our goal to instill a love for learning while providing an equally challenging, yet fun, experience. We have many exciting and unique activities planned for them this year.
Please refer to the supply lists for each class that can be found on the school website. Copies of these lists may also be picked up in the office.
We have high expectations of our students, and we are confident that they will rise to those expectations. We would ask that you speak with your student nightly to see what they are working on. If you should need to speak to us we are available during our planning time from 7:50 until 8:35 a.m. You can also contact us through e-mail at

5th and 6th Discipline Plan
-Quietly enter the classroom
-Put your things away at your assigned seat
-Sharpen pencil and gather materials
-Be ready to work and pay attention
-Do not leave anything on the floor or rack of your desk
-Gather all materials needed for homework and put in your folder/backpack
-When dismissed by the teacher, have your things and desk in order
-Be prepared for each class
-Follow all directions the first time given
-Be respectful, responsible, and honest
-Keep hands, feet, and other items to yourself
-Follow all class and school rules while in class
-Treat others the way you want to be treated
-Be your best self
Consequences for not following rules:
1st Bubble - 5 minutes. off of recess or writing assignment
2nd Bubble - 10 minutes off recess or writing assignment
3rd Bubble - detention (d-hall)
4th Bubble - detention (d-hall)
Severe Offense - Sent directly to the principal
*Students receiving five detentions in one week will automatically receive one day of in-school suspension

I know my teaching must begin with making children feel at home in the classroom and helping all children come together into a learning community. This community is made up of unique individuals, each with his or her own learning style, interest, history, hopes, and dreams.
