Dear Parents,

My name is Mrs. Natalie Jeffers, and I am your child’s First Grade teacher this year.  First Grade is very challenging, and we will be learning many new skills.  I am looking for a very successful year, and I know you are too.

Every Friday I will be sending home your child’s work with a weekly report attached to the front.  This report will show your child’s recorded grades for the week as well as new spelling words and reading story for the next week.  If I record a grade from your child’s work, I will staple that paper to his or her weekly report.  I will send all other papers home paper clipped in back.  Please sign the bottom of this report and have your child return it with all stapled work to school on Monday.   This assures me that you are seeing your child’s progress in my classroom on a weekly basis.   I will keep all returned stapled work in a file here at school.  This gives me the opportunity to periodically view your child’s progress throughout the school year.  You may keep the work that is paper clipped to the report unless corrections need to be made.  If corrections are needed, please take that opportunity to assist.  All corrected work needs to be returned to school as soon as possible and will be returned with the next weekly report.

I’m sure all of my students will be on their best behavior at school this year.  To reward them, they will have chances to visit the "goody box" each day!

In my classroom I have high expectations for every student.  Thank you for working with me to help your child reach his or her greatest potential.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me during my planning time from 1:30-2:15 each school day.  Our school’s website is also a great place to get information about classroom and school wide activities.

Thank you,

Mrs. Jeffers
