My name is Mrs. Rebecca Pennington, and I am your child’s First Grade Teacher this year. First Grade is very challenging, and we will be learning many new skills. I am looking forward to a very successful year, and I know you are too.
Your child will have a school to home folder that they will take home every night. This folder will have lots of information in it so please keep check of your child’s folder daily. Every Friday I will be sending home your child’s work and a weekly news attached to the front. This weekly news will show your child’s recorded grades for the week as well as the new spelling words, reading story for the following week. If I record a grade from your child’s work, I will staple that work to his or her weekly news. I will send home all other papers behind the staple weekly news. Please sign and return the bottom part of the weekly news and put weekly news and stapled pages in school to home folder for your child to return on Monday. This assures me that you are seeing your child’s progress in my classroom on a weekly basis. I will keep all weekly news and stapled work in a file here at school. This gives me the opportunity to periodically view your child’s progress throughout the year. You may keep the work that is not stapled in your child’s orange folder.
Our snack time and recess is 1:00-1:30 each day. You may send something from home, or he/she can purchase healthy snacks from the school. Prices range from .25c to $1.00.
Just a reminder that school begins at 7:50. If your child arrives at school after that, please get a tardy slip from the office. You may drop off your child by 7:25 to eat breakfast in the cafeteria.
In my classroom, I have high expectations for every student. Thank you for working with me to help your child reach his/her greatest potential. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me during my planning time from 1:30-2:15 daily. Our school’s website fes.scottcounty.net is also a great resource to find information about classroom and school wide activities.
